White roses, sweat and Greta Van Fleet in their barefoot glory
Greta Van Fleet is a band turned into a phenomenon. Disciples of the great masters of rock, there are many who have surrendered to GVF as the new Gods of the genre.
In 2017, Greta Van Fleet released their first single, “Highway Tune”, which was ranked #1 in US. The band gave a series of sold out shows in North America and Europe, got brilliant press reviews, awards and support from the most prominent artists.
Their first Barcelona’s show began with Josh Kiszka tossing white roses into the crowd. Barefoot rockers opened with “Highway Tune” - probably the song that catapulted them to world fame. The band sustained the initial momentum with “Edge of Darkness”, “Black Smoke Rising” and “The Music Is You”. Their live was vigorous, rocking “Age of Man”, extending “Black Flag Exposition” with a virtuous and endless solo, developing long interludes that exploded in “Watching Over” and “Cold Wind”. Ultimately finishing with "When the Curtain Calls" which was totally the cherry on the cake.
Greta Van Fleet did not disappoint those already convinced beforehand, nor did it excite the eternal skeptics of this kind of spontaneous phenomena. It’s true that they seemed to come out of nowhere, but these guys have been able to put together an impressive live show, capable of knocking down any hypothesis about their artistic value.
